History

Our firm has nine attorneys. It was founded by attorney Luis M. Pellot-González who has over 40 years of tax experience, including his practices at the Puerto Rico Department of Treasury and the Tax Departments of Arthur Andersen & Co. and Laventhol & Horwath. He was also a part-time professor of taxation during 13 years at the Business School of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. In March 31, 2008, attorney Janira Beltrán Sellés rejoined the firm as Shareholder. Before rejoining the firm, she served as Deputy Secretary of Administrative Appeals for the Puerto Rico Department of Treasury, one of Puerto Rico’s most important governmental agencies, with a constitutionally granted responsibility of administering fiscal laws.

 

We represent a wide cross-section of private corporations, individuals and entities engaged in areas such as tourism, food and beverage, insurance, agriculture, cinematography, entertainment, retail and wholesale trade, construction, development, manufacturing and aviation industry, among other areas.

 

We are engaged in tax, corporate, commercial and labor practices, including general tax, tax planning, mergers & acquisitions, tourism incentives, industrial and economic incentives and other tax exemptions requests, tax credits, commercial and loan transactions, corporate governance and counseling, trusts and estates, estate planning and tax compliance, labor and employment matters and litigation.  Other main areas of practice include Puerto Rico and United States tax aspects of individuals and corporations, general income matters, property, excise, municipal license, sales and use taxes, estate and gift taxes and pension plans.  The firm’s counseling includes all aspects of legal compliance and planning for employee benefit programs.
